Timeless De Tour 2011


"Timeless Detour" provides a platform for all the budding fashion designers of SID. It is a confirmation of more than six months of efforts by students and curated by the faculty of SID, who have shown sustained interest in the crafts and textiles of different parts of India. It is an endeavor to probe into all the aspects of handicrafts, historical, social as well as cultural influences.

This year as part of the core subject of craft documentation not only did the Fashion Design students explored the Textile crafts of various states but also the Fashion Communication students explored the local crafts of the beautiful places of our country i.e. KERELA - Balaramapuram Sarees, Screw Pine, ORRISA - Applique Art, Palm Leaf Art, KOLKATA - Baluchari, Leather Batik/ Embossing, ASSAM - Muga Silk, Bamboo and Cane Articles, KULLU - Kinnauri Shawls, Pulla Chappal.

As we move into the 4th Year of Timeless Detour, with a new identity, we promise to bring to you much more than before. Moving ahead with our culture we not only are presenting a fashion show but also interaction with the artisans who are all the way coming from their native places along with eminent speakers in the field of Textile crafts in the form of seminar.

After the tour to the history of the city/town, the tradition and people a new concept has also been added to our Timeless through "Bazaar" Market where true culture shall be showcased consisting the true essence of the place. Thus, this year we have a seminar, a grand fashion show and also a bazaar. Ms. Bela Sanghavi, President of Craft council of Maharashtra a renowned personality and thus working towards reviving the textile traditions has also confirmed her presence in the capacity of Chief Guest.

Seminar Bazaar Fashion Show
Speaker: Bella Shanghavi Ms Shanghvi, our speaker runs an Organisation namely, Navinidhi Design Solutions Pvt. Ltd. It helps to preserve the age old heritage crafts. This seminar is followed by an interaction with the artisans coming from their native places to educate us about the craft. After touring the craft clusters across the country and getting to Interact with the people, we have introduced a new concept "BAZAAR" giving a common Platform to interact and showcase the true essence of places. Presenting a fashion show, with ensembles designed using textile crafts from Kerela, Orrisa, Kolkata, Assam & Kullu.
